JP's storytelling ability is second to none, and "Highway Star" is a perfect example of his songwriting and storytelling ability.
Based between Ireland and Germany, JP Kennedy has become a hit with a wide audience after leaving his band and going solo. Grunge, punk and folk all come together to form his sound, and his playful persona adds excitement to the tracks as you can see in his music videos. JP considers his visuals as much a part of his artistry as his songs, and this really shows.
"Highway Star" catapults the listener into the storyline from the very beginning with a choice of instruments that instantly bring your mind to the Wild West. Fascinated by stories of his great-grandfather, who owned a saloon in the time this story is set, JP tells the story of a cowboy who lost his son. The string section is at the forefront of the sound throughout this piece, giving a sense of climax to this exciting tale.
