Music Spotlight: Lewis Poole Returns With EP "A Beautiful Fire"

Updated: Mar 4

From start to finish this EP is an anthemic emotional rollercoaster and a real triumph of indie rock nostalgia.

Since their first release in 2017, Lewis Poole have gone from strength to strength releasing a full length album and now their new EP "A Beautiful Fire" as well as performing around the UK.

The EP opens with "You're All That I Want" an emotional yet upbeat love story seemingly set on a night out where the main character just wishes they could be alone with the unnamed third party.

Track 2 "Are You Jesus" continues the upbeat synth heavy sound of this EP. The vocal performance is similar to older pop punk tracks with a distorted sound and fast delivery.

"Alone 2.0" sounds reminiscent of the early 2000s indie rock tracks that we know and love. The lyrics strike an emotional chord with the listener by discussing the feeling of coming to terms with being alone and knowing your ex is with someone new.

The fourth track "MYBEST" has a slightly slower, more somber vibe. It seems as though this song is reminiscing on past events with the outlook that doing your best is enough.

Track 5 explodes out of the gate with a much higher tempo and an upbeat major sound. re-energising the listener.

"A Beautiful Fire" concludes with one of the bands best loved singles "Lie Down" which continues the high tempo pop punk vibe that comes and goes throughout the EP. Angsty lyrics and driving guitars make this a worthy climax for what can only be described as a triumphant modern rock album.
