The unique vocal style seperates MatAre from the run of the mill alt bands of today.
Starting out in the industry as a dance music producer, Florida based MatAre gained recognition during the "Orlando Breaks" period. He achieves his unique sound through his technical ability on multiple different instruments including guitar, keyboard and saxophone, as well as his nomadic lifestyle. MatAre likes to move to a different US state each year, picking up cultural and musical influences along the way. His twelve-track album "Patternicity" was self written and self produced, which is a real testement to the raw talent possessed by this artist.
Opening with a nostalgic echoing guitar melody, "Perfect Constant" instantly feels emotional. The drums crash in with a quick fill before laying down a driving rhythm as MatAre's vocals take centre stage. The verses have a hint of the modern wave of midwest emo, and the big sound of the chorus returns us to a classic indie rock sound. The hook line "Don't be afraid" rings out in the chorus, giving the song an overall feeling of reassurance and relatability.
This single is a real sign of things to come from MatAre, and I can guarantee we will be watching closely to see what hights this talent can reach.
