Music Spotlight: Molly Baker With Piano Pop Ballad "June 28th"

Molly has the voice of an iconic pop star, and with relatable songwriting like this she is bound for success in the very near future.

Molly has been obsessed with music from a very early age, recording and performing live at just ten years old. She calls music therapeutic and states that it is her favourite way to express herself. She has been a part of the writing process with many talented producers and lyricists to create her signiature sound.

"June 28th" begins with sombre piano chords and a light melody before Molly's emotive vocals begin. As she tells the story of texting her ex on their birthday she conveys her emotion by allowing herself to laugh on the lyric "I have some self control". Beautiful vocal harmonies begin in the pre-chorus before more layers are added for the chorus creating a huge sound remeniscent of musical theatre. The 6/8 time signiature gives the track a classic ballad feel while allowing the piano chords to remain bouncy and positive. A string section is added towards the end to further widen the sonic landscape and really drive home the raw emotion of this ballad. A single piano chord rings out to end the song, a simple yet effective conclusion to a great piece of songwriting from an artist with a bright future ahead.
